How about living your dreams? Every baby step that gets you closer to your dreams feels incredible. It's not always fun or easy, but it sparks a light and warmth within as the dream gets closer to becoming reality. We have this friend, an amazing friend. His name is Jaimie and he chases his dreams. We met him while running on the same team (GBTC) after college. He has an amazing mind... he's brilliant. On top of being brilliant he is also adventurous, extremely athletic, has a big heart, and is fully capable of handling any situation. I've always been in awe of his aspirations and accomplishments, i.e. building a geodesic home in the middle of the woods in Vermont; building a boat; buying an island off of Panama; and now embarking on the largest venture of all - building a home on his island for him and his family. The difference between Jaimie and others, is that everything he uses to build his things is probably someone else's old items. Another big difference between him and others is that he is just chasing his dreams. He's worked really hard and as he puts it sacrificed "comfort" in order to bring him closer to his dreams.
Jaimie is the real deal. He is quirky, charming, genius, and one of the sweetest guys I know. It's wonderful that we all have someone to take notes from and enrich our lives through the incredible things that he does.
My husband and I are not the most handy, but we are dream chasers. Knowing our strengths and weaknesses, we bought a house with the set-up of living "off the grid" and we fully intend to capitalize on the bones in place, be creative and use our hands to make it the most fun and sustainable we possibly can. It's sort of like a domino effect, when you've built good things around you, the rest of your life is just so good.
